The baby got a great start to life, having a grandma to love it for that time together–a gift for all three of you, perhaps?
I know you're putting a positive spin on their moving to their own place, and that's obviously what needs to happen at some point, but (sniff) I'd personally be in tears.

Thanks, Madelle. I will admit I miss those smiles and hugs. She has also mastered the 'evil eye' that on an 18 month old is really funny. However we do not laugh at her but we do turn away or our hands fly to cover our mouths.
What I miss the most, besides the smiles, hugs and kisses is just seeing her learn something new every day. They change so fast at this age. The good thing is that I've learned to do Skype so I'll have some face time with her soon!
Having had one or both of my granddaughters living with me for over 20 years, I'm grateful they've created safe, loving lives for themselves and I can be 'just a grandma' again. Oh, I do miss the hugs! from both the little one and her mom so thanks for the virtual ones!
